Interactive Integer Chip Model

See the instructions below.

Using a black chip to represent +1 and a red chip to represent –1, solve problems for different operations involving integers.

Instructions

  •  Select an operation from the Options menu. You can also turn off Sound or generate a New Problem using the Options menu
     
  • Either drag black or red chips into each area or enter an integer in the boxes in the equation at the top.
     
  • Enter what you think the answer is by dragging chips or entering the value. Check your result by pressing Check Answer.
     
  • If you want to see one possible way of determining the answer, click on Animate Calculation.
     
  • To clear everything and start over simply press Clear All.
